Playa de Las Gaviotas, Tenerife

Las Gaviotas is a wild black sand beach located in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, very close to the town of San Andrés and Las Teresitas beach.

It is a traditionally nudist beach, which is also visited by residents to practice surfing or bodyboarding.

It has dimensions of 250 meters long and about 40 meters wide.

It is a somewhat isolated beach with few services. It is accessed by a steep road that starts from the TF-121 highway that connects San Andrés with Igueste.

Waves and currents can be considerable on certain days.

Today it is frequented mainly by residents of all ages, although it is not a beach very suitable for children and very elderly people.

The beach does not have many services, and although there is an esplanade in the area used as a car park, parking there is not usually easy during peak hours.

From the parking lot there is a (somewhat difficult) path to Playa Chica, another adjacent beach where there is an apartment complex.

What services does Las Gaviotas Beach offer?

It is a natural beach that does not have many services.

In addition to the parking lot, you will find some trash cans and containers in which to throw away garbage.

At certain times of the year when there are more visitors, the City Council provides a lifeguard service.

How to get to Las Gaviotas Beach?

It is reached via the TF-121 highway that connects San Andrés with Igueste.

If you go by car, you should head towards San Andrés and then towards Las Teresitas beach. Before reaching it, you will see a detour towards Igueste (TF-121). Continuing along this road for just over 1 km, you will find a detour along a steep road that goes down towards Las Gaviotas beach.

By bus, once you are in Santa Cruz, you must take the 945 line that goes to Igueste. This line leaves you at the intersection of the TF-121 road from where the detour starts to go down to the beach. You can take this bus from the Interchange of the city, or from the Avenida Marítima or any area of this lower part of the city (Valleseco, María Jiménez…).

If you want to save yourself the last walk if you go by bus, or if you do not have a vehicle or cannot find parking in the area, you can take a taxi from San Andrés or from the center of Santa Cruz.
